Your Questions, Answered

  • Every project is different. Pricing is based primarily on the number of poems in your collection and the complexity of the interior formatting. Collections with intricate layouts, visual poetry, or unique formatting will require additional design time. Once we review your manuscript, we’ll provide you with a personalized quote.

  • We offer the following trim sizes: 5×8, 5.5×8.5, 6×9 (inches). We recommend 5.5×8.5. If you’re unsure which size is best, we’ll help you choose the option that we think best fits your collection.

  • Poetry collections are printed on cream paper, which is the industry standard for poetry and fiction, because it’s easier on the eyes while reading. However, we can do white paper should you request it.

  • Yes. Please note that Amazon KDP requires books with color interiors to have at least 72 pages. Otherwise, they will be in black-and-white. Also, you should be aware the more images in the interior of your book, the higher your printing cost, which reduces your book’s royalty. So, feel free to use images, just don’t go overboard.

  • Your poetry collection can include many of the traditional front and back matter pages, including:

    • Copyright page (always included)

    • Dedication

    • Table of contents

    • Acknowledgments

    • Author’s note

    • Author biography

  • Absolutely. Your poems can appear as one continuous collection or be divided into multiple sections or chapters. We’ll help create a layout that best fits your vision.

  • Of course. Every poetry collection includes page numbers.

  • If you wish. We recommend the standard headers of your book title and author name, but you can choose to keep the headers blank if you want to.

  • You’ll begin by completing a detailed Book Cover Questionnaire where you’ll tell us about your book, style preferences, colors, fonts, and overall vision. From there, we’ll design your cover and provide options for your review.

  • You cover can feature:

    • Typography (text) only

    • Photography

    • Abstract artwork

    • Hand-drawn or illustrations

    • Minimalist designs

We’ll work with you to create a cover that reflects your poetry collection.

  • Our standard cover design uses professional stock photography and design elements to help keep publishing affordable. Each cover is completely unique in it’s own way. But we do not create original artwork or custom illustrations (unless you provide it). Those projects are available through an outside illustrator and typically begin around $350.

  • Yes, if your cover meets Amazon KDP’s size and formatting requirements. If it needs to be resized or redesigned, those revisions will need to be completed by the original designer.

  • If your book has enough spaces to fit spine text. Books under 79 pages generally won’t have spine text because the spine isn’t wide enough to print on. It all depends on the amount of pages in your book.

  • That’s completely up to you. Some authors include a book description and their author bio (most typical). You can also choose to put a poem or quote, artwork, or review quotes or endorsements. Others prefer a simple image or completely blank page.
