About the Anthology
Avalon Anthology: Authors in Bloom Vol. 2 is a collaborative collection of poetry from all writers participating in Authors in Bloom. It is created to showcase your diverse voices and unique perspectives. Each poem is a reflection of personal experience, creative exploration, and the courage it takes to step into authorship. This anthology is more than a collection of poems - it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and the transformative power of writing.
In a world where many poets struggle to find an audience or the confidence to publish, Avalon Anthology offers a platform to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
About This Year’s Theme: The Unbroken Bloom
The Unbroken Bloom is a tribute to resilience, transformation, and beauty emerging from life’s challenges. The theme is intentionally broad, inviting writers to explore growth, healing, emotional seasons, rebirth, and the strength it takes to remain true to oneself. Whether your poems are tender, bold, vulnerable, or powerful, this anthology is a garden for every voice - a place where struggle becomes art, and every poem tells a story of endurance and renewal.
This year, the Authors in Bloom challenge includes carefully designed writing prompts that align with the theme of The Unbroken Bloom. Participants are encouraged to use these prompts as inspiration to explore personal transformation, resilience, and self-discovery. While contributors do not need to use every prompt, the poems chosen for the anthology will be selected based on how beautifully they capture the spirit of the theme. Each contributor will have 5 of their poems featured in Vol. 2, showcasing their strongest, most resonant work within this powerful concept.
Challenge & Publication Timeline
March 20th – Challenge Begins
The Authors in Bloom challenge starts on the first day of spring! For the next month, you’ll be writing, exploring prompts, and cultivating your poetry. During this time, we will be creating your custom author mood board, tailored to your brand and aesthetic.
April 20th – Challenge Ends
The writing period closes, and we ask that you compile all your poems into a Word document manuscript. This is your time to review, revise, edit, and arrange your poems into a cohesive collection. Once complete, email your manuscript to us.
Book Interior Preparation
Once we receive your manuscript, we begin formatting your book interior. You’ll also receive a book interior form to fill out all your preferences. The sooner we get your manuscript and form back, the sooner we can start. Book interior formatting typically takes up to 2 weeks, depending on response times.
Book Cover Design
At the same time, we’ll create your book cover using the book cover questionnaire you complete. This process also typically takes up to 2 weeks. Afterward, you’ll review and approve both your book interior and cover. Any revisions may add additional time.
Marketing & Promotion
While your book is in production, you can start marketing your upcoming release! Share poems, content, and updates about your book with your audience to build excitement and anticipation.
Book Release Date
We ask for a book release date that is at least 3 months from the challenge start. This ensures we have plenty of time to complete your book, review proofs, and order author copies if needed for events. Depending on your response times and revisions, book completion can take as early as 3 months or up to 8 months from the start of the challenge.
