March
March is about growth in all its messy, uneven, and sometimes uncomfortable forms.
This month invites poems about transition, personal evolution, resistance, and the slow work of change.
Explore how you stretch beyond your comfort zones, adapt to new circumstances, and become someone different than before. March is about the tension between what is and what could be, capturing both the challenges and beauty of growth.
Craft Focus:
Movement and transformation
Metaphor and imagery from nature
Emotional nuance and reflection
This month, your chapbook will explore the process of growth - visible and invisible, sudden and gradual. By the end of March, you’ll have a collection of poems that reflect resilience, evolution, and self-discovery, giving your chapbook depth and cohesion.
Here are sample prompts. The full 20-prompt list is included when you join the challenge:
Start with: “I didn’t notice myself changing until…”
Capture growth that feels like loss or sacrifice.
Explore something outgrowing its container or limits.

Why This Month Matters Now
Becoming happens quietly, often without permission. This theme is for the in-between version of you - the one who hasn’t fully arrived but no longer fits who they used to be.
If you don’t write from this place now, it disappears. You become something else, and the transition is lost. March matters because it captures transformation while it’s still happening, not after it’s been resolved.
