The Poet’s Monthly Manuscript Challenge: April
Theme: Realization, Clarity, Emergence, and Truth
April invites poets to write into the moment when something finally comes into focus — whether welcomed or feared. This month centers on insight, revelation, and the quiet (or sudden) moments of self-awareness that change how we see ourselves and the world.
These poems explore the truths we can no longer avoid — the realizations waiting beneath distraction, denial, or uncertainty. April is the moment clarity breaks through avoidance.
Awakenings are often uncomfortable and fleeting. If you delay writing them, they harden into conclusions instead of living realizations. This month gives you permission to write before understanding settles into certainty.
By the end of the challenge, you’ll have a powerful collection of poems capturing moments of truth, discovery, and emotional clarity.
Poet’s can choose between:
Challenge-Only Package

The Poet's Monthly Manuscript Challenge - May
Theme: Relationships, Intimacy, Belonging, and Distance
May explores the complexities of human connection — how we attach, drift apart, and long to be understood.
These poems examine the emotional space between people: what is spoken, what remains unsaid, and what lives quietly beneath our relationships. Your chapbook will explore intimacy, vulnerability, belonging, and the tension between closeness and distance.
Connection is constantly shifting. If you wait too long to write about it, the emotional truth fades. This challenge encourages poets to capture the feeling while it is still alive — before memory reshapes it.
By the end of May, your poems will illuminate the many dimensions of relationships — with others and with yourself.
Participants can choose between:
Challenge-Only Package
For poets who want structured prompts and guidance while managing their own publication.
Full Publication Package
For poets who want to focus on writing while our team professionally formats, designs, and publishes their completed chapbook.
Both options provide prompts and guidance to help you write 20–30 poems during the month.
The Poet's Manuscript Challenge: February
The Poet’s Monthly Manuscript Challenge guides you through a month of writing prompts to spark creativity and focus your poetry. Each prompt is designed to help you write poems you may not have dared to attempt on your own. You can join the challenge just to write, or take the next step with a full publication package to turn your month’s work into a professionally published chapbook.
About February’s Theme:
February explores devotion beyond romance — self, grief, desire, obsession, loyalty, and the things we give our hearts to willingly or unwillingly.
Devotion shapes who we are, who we love, and what we carry. Writing about it opens new emotional layers and strengthens your poetic voice.
