About Me
I was born Brittney Raine Arthur on September 5, 1990 in a small river town famous for the Moth Man. My parents had me at the young age of 18 and divorced a few years later. My Dad has been a musician since high school. He’s the coolest person on the planet. My Mom has been a homemaker for the most of her life. She’s very creative. I get any and all of my witchiness from her and my maternal line.
Family from both my maternal and paternal sides are nearly all musicians, so music has always been a huge part of my life. We saw live music often when I was a child, and I don’t mean concerts and symphonies. I mean a bunch of people playing banjos and fiddles and the harmonica while everyone dances around like an Irish Jig. Most of my family, of course, are Scots-Irish. My mom, sisters, and I used to sing in our little Methodist church. My maternal Grandpa played the fiddle in a band, and my paternal Grandpa sang bass in a quartet. I self-taught myself piano as a child. I can play clarinet and long to learn the violin like my Grandpa. Because my mom gifted me his old violin, I feel like it’s my destiny.
I am English, Scottish, and a little Germanic European and Welch. My paternal ancestors reign from the Scottish clan MacArthur, who believe they are descendants of King Arthur. I have always been drawn to the Arthurian Legends, as well as any art depicting such legends, like the painting “The Lady of Shallot” by John William Waterhouse (after the poem by Lord Alfred Tennyson.) I have a strong interest in art and poetry that comes from the Pre-Raphaelites.
As a child, I was extremely imaginative. I would go on walks in the woods and look for signs of fairies. When I wasn’t outside, I wrote and wrote and wrote story after story. I loved writing and creating new worlds.
