20 Days of Poetry Challenge
Welcome to the 20 Days of Poetry Writing Challenge!
At Jack Wild Publishing, we believe every poet has a book inside them waiting for the right moment to come to life. The 20 Days of Poetry Challenge is your invitation to step into that moment.
Each month, we gather poets from all walks of life to write 20 poems in 20 days. With 10 free days built in, the challenge feels inspiring, not overwhelming. Each month’s theme is designed to spark your creativity. You can dive deep into it, or simply use it as a starting point.
But we don’t stop at the writing. At the end of your challenge, we turn your poems into a professionally designed poetry book complete with a custom interior and cover. You choose the details, and we bring your vision to life.
Whether this is your first time publishing or your tenth, this challenge gives you structure, support, and the joy of holding your words in your hands.

Theme
September Theme: Thresholds
Thresholds are the spaces in between - moments of transition, change, and possibility. They exist at the edge of one chapter and the beginning of another, the doorway between the known and the unknown.
In this month’s challenge, explore what it means to stand on a threshold:
Moving from one season of life to another
Facing a decision or turning point
Crossing emotional or creative boundaries
Experiencing growth, transformation, or new perspectives
Your poems can fully embrace the theme, or simply use it as inspiration. Think of thresholds as open doors - places where stories, emotions, and reflections wait to step into the light.
The theme of Thresholds is meant to inspire your writing, not limit it. You can embrace it fully, letting the concept of transitions, turning points, and moments of change guide your imagery, tone, and subject matter in every poem. Or, you can use it lightly, as a springboard for creativity, allowing just a few poems to reflect the theme while others explore unrelated ideas. Even small cues, like a word, feeling, or image, can nod to the theme without constraining your work. Whether you dive deep or touch it gently, the goal is to write consistently and discover your voice over 20 days.
